One of the world’s biggest private industrial corporations has its headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany.  This company was actually born on November 15, 1886. It was started by Robert Bosch in the form of Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering with the help of two associates and one Apprentice. Through out the world the Bosch Group has 261,300 employees. In the year 2006 its annual sales resulted in 43.7 euros. This company has a regional branch in India.

With reference to India, Bosch Group has 15,817 employees and has achieved targeted sales of Rs. 50,087 million in 2006. The Illies Company was responsible to establish the Bosh agency in India in 1922 before its independence.  The Group has automotive and non-automotive segments in India. Bosh Rexroth AG has complete control and motion technologies. This group in India operates in five groups. They are Industrial Hydraulics, Electric Drives and Controls, Linear Motion and Assembly Technologies, Pneumatics and Mobile Hydraulics.

The Bosch Group Engineering and IT Services is a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch. They provide engineering, IT business service for automotive, industrial, consumer goods and building technology. They have locations which are developed in Bangalore and Coimbatore. It has secured an ISO 9001: 2000 certification.

The latest news of the Bosch group is that it’s Research and Development department has conducted wide market investigations. It has found that there is market for small cars with Electronic Stability Program in Europe. It has entered into a fifty-fifty joint venture with Denso Diesel particulate filter. This group is to build a new manufacturing facility for large wind-turbine gear units in Nuremberg. And last but not the least it has awarded the Supplier awards to its top suppliers.

This award was presented in five categories to 47 companies from 14 countries.
